It's part of the Eldorado National Forest, located in the central Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. A Mediterranean climate extends over most of this forest, creating warm, dry summers, and cold, wet winters. Vegetation is mixed conifers with riparian vegetation along the river.
recreationDescription There are two large swimming holes in the river for water related activities that are popular with the local residents. Fishing is also popular. The game species present are rainbow and brown trout. Weekly, rainbow trout are stocked by the California Department of Fish and Game at Riverton in order to supplement the wild trout productions from opening day (last Saturday in April) through July.
