importantInformation ENTRANCE FEES APPLY: Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks offer the following passes for purchase through a downloadable app: $30 Seven-Day Vehicle Pass, $20 Seven-Day Motorcycle Pass and the $50 Sequoia and Kings Canyon Annual Pass. Buy your digital entry pass at http://www.viplypass.com/viply-app/ . Temperatures in Cedar Grove can range from 100 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit during the peak season. The 30 mile drive from Grant Grove takes approximately one hour’s driving time due to winding roads and numerous switch backs. This is American Black Bear habitat: all food, scented items, and garbage must be properly stored in provided bear-resistant food storage boxes, not in your vehicle, 24 hours/day. Food-storage box dimensions are 28" high x 33" deep x 47" wide. Please don't travel with firewood; get it at or near your camping destination. Help protect these parks from invasive species, such as insects, fungi and other pests living in firewood that can spread beyond campgrounds threatening the health of the forest. Local markets sell firewood and gathering dead and down wood is allowed. A California state fishing license is required for fishing. Cell phone service is unreliable throughout the parks. Federal Highways Advisory: It is strongly recommended that vehicles over the length of 22 feet access Lodgepole Campground, Dorst Creek Campground, and the Giant Forest from the Highway 180 entrance into Kings Canyon National Park. The portion of the Generals Highway accessed from Highway 198 and the southern entrance is narrow and steep and is not advised for vehicles over the length of 22 feet.
nearbyAttrctionDescription Boyden Cave, Hume Lake, Grizzly Falls, Mist Falls, Zumwalt Meadow, Roaring River Falls, Sequoia Groves and numerous hiking trails abound in the area. The Cedar Grove Visitor Center offers ranger-led programs including nature and wildlife presentations as well as ranger-led hikes. The Crystal Caves are about a two and a half hour (72 miles/116 km) from the campground. Reserve tour tickets in advance on Recreation.gov.
note
orientationDescription The group sites are located in a cedar and ponderosa pine forest at the bottom of the third deepest canyon in the contiguous United States. The Cedar Grove area’s glaciated valley features towering cliffs, tumbling waterfalls, and the powerful Kings River, whose canyon gave the park its name. Two prominent rock formations, North Dome at 8,717 feet and Grand Sentinel at 8,518 feet, rise 3,500 feet above the canyon floor. Many species of wildlife inhabit the canyon as well.
recreationDescription Cedar Grove provides some of the best trails in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, especially near Roads End. Nearby the Kings River offers excellent trout fishing. Horseback riding is also available. Expect warm days and cool nights in the area.
