The Benton MacKaye Trail follows the Appalachian Trail for the first mile north of Three Forks before it joins the Duncan Ridge National Recreation Trail, following that the rest of the way to GA Hwy 60. <br />
Near Three Forks and the final split with the AT is the gorgeous Long Creek Falls. Hiking in the 1 mile from the Three Forks parking area is a popular day hike.<br />
This is one of the most remote sections of the BMT in Georgia, and it is rated "most difficult" for frequent ascents and the long, uninterrupted length.
