MOUNTAIN BIKING: Argentine Trail

Single Tracks →

Description

Head up the very rough and continuously steep jeep road, FSR 611. If you see the exit of the Argentine Trail on the way up, ignore it; this is where you'll come back out. After about 2 1/2 miles on FSR 611, look for a jeep road doubling back to the left. Take it up to a full switchback to the right and further up to a switchback left and finally, at the next right turn, you will see the singletrack heading west. The trail meanders on rolling terrain for a while before making a brutal climb to the top of Argentine Peak. Then its a white knuckle descent back to FSR 611 and then back to the car. For a great 15 mile route starting in town, simply follow the Ice Rink to Blue River route and, after reaching the dirt road, follow it south until a left on Royal, left on Regal and left on Coronet. Where the Blue River Trail meets the dirt road, there is a doubletrack that connects up with Coronet, but it is a vicious climb and best saved for a downhill on the return.

Directions

Heading south through town on highway 9, continue past the last stoplight at Boreas Pass Road by the ice rink for another 3.4 miles and go left on Blue River Road. Take a right on Royal Drive and another right on Coronet. Follow Coronet until a small parking area with a kiosk. The ride starts here by heading up the very rough and continuously steep jeep road, FSR 611. If you see the exit of the Argentine Trail on the way up, ignore it; this is where you'll come back out.
