MOUNTAIN BIKING: Platte River Trail

Single Tracks →

Description

This is a simple out-and back with a lot of technical sections and some hike-a-bike. It climbs sharply for a mile, then goes another mile on bench cut sidehill, before dropping sharply back to the South Platte River and paralleling the river for the last mile. The trail appears to be built primarily to provide anglers a route around private property to gain access to the further reaches of the South Platte. There is a route that ascends out of the river valley, but it appeared to be a straight up, shoulder the bike the whole way suffer fest only to loop back on dirt roads, so you're better off just doing an out and back.

Directions

From Lake George, go West on US 24. Right outside of town, take Co Rd 77 North toward Taryall. After 1.3 miles, go right on Co Rd 112. Within a couple hundred yards the road will hit a T. Ro right at the T. The trailhead is on the left about 2 miles from the T (shortly before the road hits a gate into private property).
