MOUNTAIN BIKING: Green Mountain

Single Tracks →

Description

A 3.4 mile long out and back, singletrack trail that takes you from the Deep Gap trailhead parking lot to Lake Blue Ridge. Parts of the trail are a bit erroded and technical but the ride will leave a smile on your face. From Aska Rd, you have a choice to either take the path to the left or the path to the right. The left path was a little steeper and more erroded than the path to the right. They connect back up at the 1 mile mark and the trail then continues on towards the lake. After the intial climb you are in for a great downhill ride to the shores of Lake Blue Ridge or you can make a right onto the Long Branch connector trail at the 1.6 mile mark and try out the nearby Long Branch Loop Trail. At the lower end of the Green Mt trail you can turn around and ride back or continue straight onto FS 711 to make the ride a loop. If you choose the loop option, continue on FS 711 until it dead ends into Campbell Camp Circle. Make a left on Campbell Camp Circle and follow it about a quarter mile until it runs into Campbell Camp Rd. No matter which direction you go on Campbell Camp Rd, it runs into Aska Rd. Head south on Aska back your car at Deep Gap trail head parking lot. The loop route is approximately 7 miles.

Directions

From GA 515 in Blue Ridge, take Windy Ridge Rd South. Make a left at the stop sign onto East 1st St. Head east about 300 yards and make a right onto Aska Rd. Park at the Deep Gap trailhead parking lot about 3.5 miles south of the turn onto Aska Rd. The Green Mountain trail is across the street from the parking lot.
