MOUNTAIN BIKING: Seneca Creek State Park Trail

Single Tracks →

Description

This is the first trail I have ridden. I am pretty sure of the directions not 100%. It is a nice trail around a 90 acre lake. There are a bunch of roots, a few short steep climbs and a few moderatley steep down hills. There are two main loops: the first is about 4 miles around the lake and the second is about 2 miles. As a begginer it is a great single track, I think. Very narrow at points. My best friend and I were caught in a storm and with a 6,100 acre park; it took us about 15 minutes of peddling through heavy rain on the their easily found, from the trails, well kept paved roads to get to the BOAT CENTER FOR SHELTER which is where you should probably go in that case. This is supposedly the easiest of three mountain biking trails around Germantown, Md. The other two are Schaffer's farm trail and Black Hills Regional Park's trail(s) not sure how many trails are there. Seneca creek being the easiest, Black Hills being intermediate, and Schaffer's farm trail being the toughest. These ratings are all from word of mouth. I am not a 100% sure. Happy Mountain Biking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Directions

Take I-270 to Shady Grove road (near the Rockville exits off I-270.) Head away from the home depot and gas stations. Take Shady Grove until you hit route 28 or Darnestown road and turn right. Make a right onto Great Seneca Highway and follow it for a while. Make a right onto Clopper road. Take either a right or left into the park after a little while on Clopper ( I am not sue which way you pull in.)

I am pretty sure of the directions not 100%.
